                                                        EDLEB

Edlib is located at 55km south west of Aleppo, at an altitude of 850m above sea level

It is green land, famous for its fruit, olive and fig trees, and has many archeological sites, foremost among which is the dead town of Ebla which goes back to the second and third millenniums B.C.

Edlib museum occupies a newly constructed building and displays archeological finds discovered in the provincem especially those coming from site of Ebla.

Idlib province includes many places worth visiting, among them:Salkin, a summer resort at 1000m. above the sea level, and 48 km north of the town of Jisr Al-shoughour. Sheikh Issa mineral water bathes, at 25km north of  Jisr Al-Shoughour and at an altitude of 240m above sea level. It has many hot water springs which are beneficial for arthritis and rheumatism.

Al-Bara a small village in a green valley, it is famous for its olive and cherry trees, it feature many old churches, tombs and houses worth seeing and has a well preserved Arab fortress called : Abou-Soufian Castle”

Ebla Archeological Site:

It is located at Tal Mardikh, 25km sout-east of Idlib and 45km south of Aleppo. A newly discovered archeological site, the town of Ebla had been mentioned in many Egyptian Mesopotamian documents, but it is actual location remained unknown until it was discovered some 30 years ago. This town flourished during the third and second millennium B.C. the archeological diggings showed that its royal palace, constructed in the third millennium B.C. had been burned and destroyed twice, once in 2250 B.C, and the other time in 1600 B.C. many clay tables which have consolidated by fire, have been however been discovered there, these tablets use cuneiform script and written in many languages, including Sumerian. They number about 16500 tablets and have not been fully deciphered until now.

Jisr Al-Shoughour:

 The town of Kist al-Shoughour is at 75km east of  Lattakia and 15km south west of Aleppo. It occupies a strategic position on the Orontes river when it enters its narrow passage through the mountains. At 18km north west of Jist Al-Shoughour stands the Castle known as “ Bakkas @ Shoughour castle” between beautiful scenery of mountains and valleys. This castle features extensive labyrinths.

DEIR – EZOR

                IT IS A CITY WITH A GREAT HISTORY AND AN ANCIENT NAME “AUZARA” IT IS A CITY ON THE EUPHRATES THROUGH WHICH MANY CONQUERORS, ARMIES , AND COMMERCIAL CARVANS HAVE PASSED .

TODAY , DEIR EZ-ZOR HAS ACQUIRED ECONOMIC  IMPORTANCE AFTER THE BUILDING OF AL FURAT DAM , AND THE DISCOVERY OF OIL IN ITS VICINITY.
